1. Pengertian Degree of Comparison

       Degree of Comparison adalah bentuk perbandingan dalam bahasa Inggris yang digunakan untuk membandingkan dua atau lebih benda, orang, atau hewan berdasarkan sifat atau karakteristiknya.

2. Jenis Degree of Comparison

A. Positive Degree (Tingkat Positif)

Digunakan untuk menyatakan sifat tanpa membandingkan dengan yang lain.

Pola:

• Subject + to be + adjective + (as ... as) + noun

• Subject + verb + as + adverb + as + noun

Contoh:

• This book is as interesting as that book. (Buku ini sama menariknya dengan buku itu.)

• She runs as fast as her brother. (Dia berlari secepat saudaranya.)

B. Comparative Degree (Tingkat Perbandingan)

Digunakan untuk membandingkan dua benda, orang, atau hewan.

Pola:

• Jika kata sifat pendek (1-2 suku kata): adjective + -er + than

• Jika kata sifat panjang (>2 suku kata): more + adjective + than

• Untuk adverb: more + adverb + than

Contoh:

• This bag is cheaper than that one. (Tas ini lebih murah daripada tas itu.)

• My house is bigger than yours. (Rumahku lebih besar daripada rumahmu.)

• She is more diligent than her friend. (Dia lebih rajin daripada temannya.)

Kata Sifat Tidak Beraturan:

C. Superlative Degree (Tingkat Superlatif)

Digunakan untuk menunjukkan benda, orang, atau hewan yang memiliki sifat paling ekstrem di antara tiga atau lebih objek.

Pola:

• Jika kata sifat pendek: the + adjective + -est

• Jika kata sifat panjang: the most + adjective

• Untuk adverb: the most + adverb

Contoh:

• This is the biggest house in the village. (Ini adalah rumah terbesar di desa.)

• She is the most intelligent student in the class. (Dia adalah siswa paling pintar di kelas.)

• He runs the fastest in the competition. (Dia berlari paling cepat dalam kompetisi.)
